June in Portugal means one thing: Santos Populares. The streets fill with music, amazing food, paper garlands, and a kind of warmth that's hard to explain if you haven't felt it. This year, we brought that energy straight to our rooftop.
Santos Populares is a series of street festivals held throughout June, honouring three beloved Portuguese saints: Santo António, São João, and São Pedro. It's one of the most beloved celebrations in the country, with neighbourhoods spilling out onto the streets for nights filled with music, dancing, and grills loaded with sardines and other classic favourites.
Our Santos Populares celebration at Codomo Lombos brought that same spirit straight to our rooftop. The rooftop was decked out in classic red and green garlands, the grill was fired up, and our team came together to do what Santos Populares is all about: eat, drink, and be with good people.
Food was at the heart of it. Watching the prep come together, ingredients laid out and the grill getting ready, was already part of the fun. By the time plates started going around, the whole rooftop smelled like a Portuguese street festival.

But the best part? The people. Soaking up the sun and the spirit of the season. That's the thing about Santos Populares: it's not really about the food (though they help). It's about sharing a table with whoever's around.

Here at Codomo Lombos, we're right where this celebration belongs. A stone's throw from the Atlantic, surrounded by community, with a rooftop that was made for exactly this kind of moment.
